N. Edisto bait

I’m gonna put in at Cherry Point and fish the N. Edisto a bit. It’s beautiful out there and I’ve had a lot of fun this summer taking my family out for beach days, but I haven’t really fished the area before (other than a random cast her or there from the beach). Any advice for menhaden, mullet, shrimp locations would be appreciated. If you’d rather not share, no worries. I’m sure I can buzz around early and find something, just thought I’d ask.
In fact, I’ll take any advice on the area. I’ll have fun I’m sure because it’s so nice out there around Rockville and the inlet area, but catching a fish or two sure would make the day wonderful.
Maybe one day I’ll be able to save up enough to afford a morning with Buddy. I’m sure he’s worth it.

Fair enough. That I can do. Thanks.

Plenty of shrimp and mullet in the creeks at low tide. Look at the mud flats and feeder creeks. I’ll be on the water all weekend. Call me if you have any questions or need help. 803-603-2781 Capt Buddy B

Being on the water is a blessing, catching fish is a bonus!

I’m not overly familiar with the area since I’ve been trying to learn the area myself. If you run up towards the mouth of steamboat creek, there seems to be a lot of menhaden hanging out in the deep water right off of the banks at the mouth of the creek. Also, on the change of tide, I’ve caught a lot of various fish where the N. Edisto feeds into Dawho flats, where all the oyster mounds are. I’ll be out there on Sunday morning trying to find the fish as well, listening on channel 16…if you’re out there give it a call!! good luck!!

Sea Tonic & Buddy, you guys are what’s great about this place. Good luck to both of you. I appreciate the tips. I look forward to getting to know the area a bit more.

I’ll be out that way tomorrow. Heading to Deveaux’s. There were alot of menhaden and mullet out there 3 weeks ago. Caught a nice 20" trout while Hanging on the beach. Released to resupply. Live finger mullet. Mouth of the Toogoodoo has shrimp if the water is out of the weeds. Left side coming in from the sound.

Bait is everywhere out there right now. Menhaden in the inlet, at mouth of Steamboat creek, and just south down the beach toward Edisto between Deveax and Botany Island.

There’s a creek directly across from the boat landing that sometimes holds bait. If not, all of the feeder creeks in South Creek / Oscella Creek will have bait. For mullet I like to look for areas where sand and mud meet.

I’m lucky to call that area home, and will say that the bait situation out there has been very good the past two or three years compared to years past, and I like it!
