anyone ever try the pier that spans the whole inlet on amelia island before? i know theres the standard whiting, sheephead, red, flounder, trout, sharks, and small stuff around but if i were to set out a float rig with the current on a heavy rod is there much chance of jack crevalle, tarpon, or king/spanish mackerel? any input from anyone thats fished there before would be appreciated.
I used to fish the sound a lot when I lived in Jax. Very good spot for Tarpon and big sharks.
The southern point of the island is good for surf casting for Tarpon when they are running.

ive heard rumors about tarpon in the fall there and a silver king is on my catch list. anyone who knows me knows im ALWAYS up for big sharks too! probably wont get em all in 1 year but i wanna expand the species ive landed list for sharks. lemon, hammerhead, sand tiger, bull, and tiger (i know that ones a stretch lol) are all on the bucket list. any idea about king or spanish mackerel? also interested in crossing off jack crevalle from the list too.
Never heard of a King being caught there but Spanish and Jack Crevalle are common. Good chance for Hammerhead, Bull, Nurse, Blacktip, Spinner and Lemons. Always the Sparpnose, Finetooth, Bonnethead and other smaller Sharks around as well.
