A good good friend of mine has cancer. This guy is like a brother to me and one of his last requests is to take him fishing.I have a boat, but honestly the fishing sucks this year. I have not been often enough to really know I can put him on a fish. I would be more than happy to pay a capt to take 4 of us out, but honestly, I want to know that I have the best captain I can get, Money is not an issue. I want my buddy to have a good time and I need to know the best captain for putting us on something big. Sharks would be nice, but anything large would be fun and would hopefully give us all some memories. suggestions please.
I cannot answer your question, but I can say that I am humbled by your love for your friend. We need more guys like you.

is it too early in the summer for a tarpon charter w/ JR?
I will pitch in if you will promise us a report
In SE GA, cant promise anything as a sure thing, but for someone as committed as you are, I really respect that and would be glad to take you and your friend out, free of charge for a day of fishing.

If I was not stuck in Okinawa, Japan until next year, I would take you for free. I hope it works out for you.

thank you all for the nice replies. I am trying to find a captain for next weekend if possible since my friend is out of Chemo for now. short notice is my issue since I dont know how much longer he will be able to do this. So I am hoping I can find someone vs. taking my own chances. I had one or two generous offers, but still looking if anyone has ideas.

I wish that I could help, but I just want to say that I very much admire this captain for offering up his time as well as the original poster for what he is doing. I wish both of you the best!
I was in the same spot you are in about 10 years ago. My friend wanted go as well. Even though it was a Chesapeake Bay trip for croakers we had a small window. We made it and quite honestly I treasure that trip more that any trip Ive been on. We had a great time and it took his mind off the hell he was going through. It was funny though out of 25 croakers, all big ,10 were citation size. We didn’t even know until we cooked them. Was a great trip with a great friend . I wish your friend well and good luck to the both of you.
Captain Jaime Holcomb with Full Circle Charters is who you need to call. He is an amazing captain and fisherman. He also caught jaws today… just sayin’

Your gesture for your friend touches my heart. Please let me know when yall are going. I would like to buy him a nice long sleeve fishing shirt and hat to wear if you will let me know what size. also…as a former oncolgy nurse of 15 years…please make sure he “lathers” down well with sunscreen( medications and chemo can make you super sun-sensitive) before and during the trip and that he stays well hydrated as well as taking some antibacterial hand gel to use during his trip,…and…gets a good nights sleep before he goes…if he can
. I really hope this will work out for you. I will keep your friend in my prayers.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I really appreciate the enthusiasm. I was not looking for so much support but thanks. Someone on this board has offered to take us all out on his 30’CC and certainly hope he will let me at least pay for gas and or more. I know this hobby is expensive but hell you cant take money with ya. My buddy Thom was smilling ear to ear when I told him about the kindness I found here. Just seeing him have fun and forget about his problems for one day will be priceless. I just hope the weather cooperates and I will upload some pics. Not sure if the anonymous stranger wants credit, he has not posted on this forum but he was reading. Thanks man.

If your friend doesn’t mind, I hope you’ll post some pics after your trip. I can’t speak for anyone else here but, I know there are times I take for granted just how fortunate I am. You are a good man.
And Penny, you continue to bring a smile to my face. Whether it be through your beautiful pictures, your picking at Bonzo, your prowess with toenail polish or your gestures of goodwill. You too, are special.
