Need a wet slip in edisto beach week of May 21

We have rented a house on the beach and are looking for a place to keep the boat in the water. Are there any private individuals out there who may want to rent out a slip for a 25 foot boat?

Renting slips at a private dock is not legal and could get the dock owner in trouble, it makes the dock a commercial structure requiring additional equipment and a revision to their permit. Check in with the marina there.

If that’s actually true, that’s absurd. Another case of too much big brother…

That is the law. There is not a dock on our coast, besides private ponds, that is actually built on private property. All docks are built over publicly held bottoms covered by the public trust doctrine. If you want to rent slips, get a marina permit with all the stuff needed to protect water quality from accidental spills. Private docks are for private use, not a commercial venture.

Well in that case…anyone willing to let me keep the boat on your dock, I’ll buy you a beer!

visit edisto realty - they now have some slips they are renting for a week at a time. Pricey, but at least you’ll have a boat in the water.

Ive rented from the marina on a nightly basis.
