Need Help on Folly

Have been out the past 2 mornings on folly beach. Been fishing the county park side just on the other side of the new walk way. Frost day hooked up on about 12 whiting. Got one small black tip about 3 feet. Liking to try catching some larger sharks. Needing some advice for rigs, bait, and how far out I need to be. Not sure where a good spot to try is either. Also trying to catch anything but whiting

Right now is summer time surf fishing. Which means, whiting and sharks and rays, and I can’t help with the larger sharks I don’t “try” to catch them. Maybe at low tight get out on the sand bar and cast as far as you can? If the blue fish hit your bait cast farther? But, the good news is it’s almost Bull Red time! In a couple weeks they should be ramped up for the spawn. Saw a report on this site of a nice one caught recently. Just ordered my Bull Red line. Keep at it, and stay in the trough. September will be better for variety, one of my favorite months.

Peace-

False report on the big red, someone bumped a post from Sep. 2009:frowning_face:

Have you tried cutting up the whiting and using that for bait for bigger sharks? If not try that.
