need help to find something to eat?.

I was lookingfor some help trying to find some fish. I will be down all week and I have my 18 foot cc. Haven’t had much success with this saltwater stuff(other than sharks). Any info or tips would be appreciated. Anything edible would be awsome. Thanks.

What kind of 18 footer do you have?

What kind of gear do you have?

GPS? Reef Anchor? Radio?

Edisto is a good spot to start from, just depends on if you head out into the ocean or stay inshore, which depends on the above info.

I have 18 foot cc sea hunt. Kinda wanted to stay inshore. I have most everything gps, fishing gear, shrimp, mud minnows. Just need to know how, where, when. I can catch fish on the reefs, I can’t figure this inshore
/ceek fishing out. I am use to a cane pole and crickets.

I’m not that good at inshore either. TopSpots maps show lots of good places around Edisto. Grab one, some mud minnows and drift down the banks that show as being hot. One guy was saying look at google maps and find creeks that feed flats or other bodies of water and use them during the tide changes.

Good luck.

You can always try to find a crabber and buy a couple of dozen from them.

Thanks. Will give that a try. And I will keep the crabbers in mind.

jluc - you sound like me (cane pole and crickets). A place I’ve had success is the big mud flat just off of the main channel across from the beach at the mouth of the South Edisto/Big Bay creek. I normally ride out along the beach and as soon as I pass the channel marker in the mouth of the river I start moving away from the beach and watching my depth finder. Once I cross the deep channel (40’ +/- deep), I watch for the bottom to flatten out (somewhere around 12’ deep). I’ll anchor and fish on the bottom with shrimp and normally catch all the whiting and croaker I want. I’ve also caught some very nice sharks there too (4’-5’). Incoming tide has been more productive but the outgoing is okay too if you have a good strong anchor. Hope this helps.

K Ulmer…I may try your method. I’ll be down August 2-9 with an 18ft center console. Being a newbie/rookie I’m looking for something easy/safe so the grandkids can catch something, anything really.
