Planing a trip to Edisto st. park 1st. week of June. Fishing out of 16 ft jon. putting in at live oak landing wanting to know where to go and what to fish for. Don’t want to go much past first marker on left leaving Big Bay crk. Went down there last June fished in Big Bay and Scott crk. and did not catch a thing went to the marker and started catching shark. Caught plenty of them in 2 days fishing. Wanting to get some good eating fish though. Wanting to get into Reds,Trout,Flounder or anything. Don’t get to come but once a year hard to find them in 2or3 days. Will have 14 year old son and son in law would like to see them get into some good fish. Don,t know much about saltwater fishing I mainly lake and river fish for Striper and Cats. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Good info, EF!!!
I’m printing this to keep for my next trip down in a few weeks. (I’m getting a boat this week, too, so I’m jacked up to fish!)
Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…
Thanks Edisto-fisher this looks like a plan already got the cast net and got my 14 year old trained up when he was 8 or 9 so I could set back and drive the boat when we catch shad for striper. Those boys are bound and determined we are going out there and catch shark. I hooked one last year that tore up 50# test about 8’ up from leader. What do you do with a shark half as long as the boat:question: Cut the line and leave!

Way up the Big Bay there is a couple of short forks off the left that can be good. Some shell banks start about the big bend to the right and several small creeklets. Also on the docks just before Fishing Cr. After you pass the elbo and come to the “Tee” in the creeks - That’s Fishing Cr. Go left to St Pierre. Much better way to go to avoid traffic and rough water. Only other place I’ve got on fish is up Mud Cr across from Marina and around the island at the Scott/Big Bay fork. Good crabbing up Scott.

Caught about 8 shark so thats where we ended up every day last day I caught a Ray that had to weigh 100#. That was a 50 min. battle wanted to cut the line but they had a fit got him in took pic. and relesed him and went home. Thanks for all the good info will be back down next summer and try it again.
