Let me start by saying Sorry for posting this here.
I have a 99 Dodge Ram that needs some work and I really want someone to do the work I can trust to do a good/great job! In the Beaufort area I hope. It runs great and just wanna fix it up right.
Want to get brake work done as they just don’t stop this beast as they should. Have had pads, rotors, drums, shoes and Master Cylinder ect. replaced and still not right.
If the brake issue can be solved within reason I will move on to letting them replace the Heater Core (which is a pain in azz on this truck to replace).
Then, if all is well move on to new paint and all of the other items…new stereo:smiley:…hopefully.
So, how about it Wildlifesc??? Do you do this as well:smiley:.
Just a shot in the dark on your brakes, but have you checked the boost, and have you made dead certain the lines have been bled out for air bubbles?

Thanks Matt for reply.
Yes, that was checked as it was the first thing thought of as the possible problem when this work was done. This brake work took place awhile back and I paid to have it done. Got frustrated and just kinda gave up. They work OK but not like they should.
Had the heater core replaced in my 2003 ram six years back, and it was $700+ if I remember correctly. They are a pain, a lot of the dash has to come out. You can do it yourself, but it’s a long job.
Sniper7 here has a mobile auto service and reasonable pricing. You might check with him first about brakes.
I also have a 99 Ram truck. Great truck but hates to pass a fuel station. Mine will hardly stop itself much less a boat. If you figure that one out please repost!
NN…the guy at Jiffy Lube next to the theater and across from Carquest is very knowledgeable, reasonable and lots of folks refer to him. Might be worth a drive by and chat with him. My wife had to have a throttle body on her 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid. Ford wanted almost $900 for parts & labor and he did it quickly for under $300 for both. Nice Guy! His name is Pete.
Glenn, when it comes to the heater core… just know that of the $700+ you’re paying for it, $650 of that is labor. It’s a $50 part, not kidding. It’s a very easy process, but very very time consuming. As long as you’re ORGANIZED, and I mean very organized. Get a stack of stick-on address labels, and label every single thing you take off, and the step number you took it off in. Put the hardware in a zip-loc bag with the same info.
Also, while you’re under there… spring for replacing every single other part. Check the connections on your console electronics, clean them if they are dirty. If you see any bulbs that are easily accessed, replace those too. Replace your A/C evaporator (again, another $50 part). You don’t ever want to have to do take your entire dash out again so make new of everything you can find!
YouTube is your friend, there are countless hour long videos with step by step instructions. It’s easy, man. It really is, but it WILL take you all weekend. Be sure to COMPLETELY REMOVE your battery, too. Don’t just take the ground off. That’s a lot of current in there, and you have to remove your airbags to get to the cores. Don’t chance it
Good Luck!!
