New boat

Thinking about getting a new 2480 dlx carolina skiff with either a yamaha or honda 115. Any comments good or bad one would like to share would be greatly appreciated.

Plenty of room, but a fairly rough ride in choppy water.

It’s a flatbottom, the ride is going to be bad in chop, but it is a big boat. Not too many frills, but it is very solid. Power sounds about right.

Go for the max HP on the motor if you can, My cousin has one that he uses for charters with a 115 on it and it could use a little more power when its loaded down

Sportins is right, Max is 140, so take a look at the Suzuki 140…good motor, price near the same as the 115 Yamaha. Never can have too much power

I agree with the max power. You start looking at the fuel economy curves shows its better to run lower rpm’s.

Be careful about to much power. I owned a Carolina Skiff J14 and 25 hp motor. Great boat and very solid. The only complaint I had was turning the boat at medium and higher speeds. These boats don’t lean into a turn due to their flat bottoms (they kind of skip like a rock on a pond). Needless to say speed and turning one of these boats doesn’t mix. Have fun but be careful.
