New house build

The lumber package got dropped off Wednesday morning and in 1-1/2 days they got the first floor done. This is yesterday afternoon.

Having done some framing and other carpentry in the past, I don’t know if I’m more impressed with their speed, or their quality. It’s pretty amazing.

2x6 exterior walls, 9’ ceilings.

Wife in pics, for perspective.

Interior view.

30x30 attached garage.

I brought my inspector out Thursday afternoon to check progress. He heartily approved. Then went and jumped in the pond. :joy:

Had a litter of kittens in the house last weekend. One was, literally, born on my arm as I was racing down the hallway.

Yay, me. IFKYK.

poor old mama cat looks worn slap out, lol

She’s only about 6 months old herself! She wandered into my garage a few weeks ago, soaking wet, skin and bones, but the sweetest cat ever. I gave her some food and water, assuming she’d be gone the next day. Yeah, nah.

This is after one week.

After 4 weeks it became pretty obvious…

Back on topic, floor joists were delivered yesterday. Trusses will be delivered Thursday. Ill get new pics up next week. Heading to Keowee tomorrow morning for a much needed break.

Put a couple of 55 gallon drums out and start burning the scrap. It’ll pay big dividends in keeping the place clean and lowering your waste/haul bills.

Plus a good many of the tradesmen will clean up after themselves given a place, not all but as time goes on it sure helps

Good advice EF !
I always supplied plenty of whiskey to all my contractors
Deer meat and fish for the brick masons
If you have any scrap longer than 16in
Screw it in anywhere that you might be putting a towel rack, picture or cabinet

Have you thought about colors for the outside?

For us the colors for the inside were pretty easy, but we much have drove around and looked at 500 houses trying to decide what colors we liked the best.

Another thing to consider as far as paint goes, they usually put paint on the biggest sale of the year ( the big paint companies) around Labor Day, closing out this years inventory (or trying to, lol)

Anyway, keep your eye open around then and maybe save a few bucks on that.

Looking good

Fun stuff.
