What does common sense and experience tell you about the amount of meat on one 15 incher vs fillets from two 12 inchers?
Or is the meat from around the bones on a legal sized trout not considered “finger lickin good”?
I don’t know. I release them.
But if I catch a skinny 14 " flounder, (**() straight he is going in the box.
I think to most people it’s just personal preference, my wife would prefer the fillets off the 15", I would prefer the 12" pan fried whole(- head and guts). I would also prefer the trout over the flounder. And then you have people that love to snag em, de-hook, throw back in the water and repeat over and over and over. If I get my limit I just quit fishing and ride the river.
< Evil is simply the absence of God >
I will trade you trout for flounder.

LSK, what street are you hearing that on?? I dont have a problem with lowering the limit on flounder to 10. But for trout I think they are off base. The weather affects them more than fishermen. What’s next tell mother nature the temp cant get below 45?
A wise man once said “Do as I say not as I do” Good advice when I tell you that.
A friend who has some friends who work for DNR told me. Not like my friends sisters brothers boss’s second cousin, once removed

per the dnr I heard the drop on flounder is good to go, but the trout creel is not going down… pity, a 5 trout creel isn’t bad at all and would be a great proactive approach to a stronger and larger population of fish.
Fishermen griping about an aggregate limit of our inshore fish should learn to catch more than one type of fish.
When one can put trout, flounder, sheepshead, redfish, and at times other seasonal species in the box…the cooler is full. even with creel numbers cut in half:
5 trout
3 redfish
10 sheepshead
10 flounder
= 28 fish PER PERSON
And I’m willing to put money that even a boatload of the majority of the yum yums crying about limits can’t catch 1 of those limits mentioned above.
personally I ain’t cleaning more than what I’m eating that evening, much less 28 fish (which is half of what’s one can potentially bring home currently)
the only things that should favor liberal limits on our fish are shrimp, finger mullet, and fiddler crabs.
AMEN, stretch. Hell, I’d like to know how many could catch 10 keeper flounder on a hook at any given time of the year… makes for a hell of a day. Will NEVER try unless on vacation at home or old & retired
I CALL BS STRETCH!! I don’t think anyone could catch even that 28 fish limit, even YOU! I challenge you to take me and the kids fishing to prove it can be done! Then, and only then, will I be a believer!
Let me know if it does Vin. I’ll challenge him again in a couple of months. I’d go nuts if I could catch more than couple of keeper flatties in one day.
I like the lower limits, but am wary of more and more government regulation on fishing, boating, etc that has been the trend of the last four or five years…

Stretch could catch the 28 fish limit before most of us get to work in the morning. Whether or not he will show you how to do it, probably not, because if he does, you got his spots, and if ya wanna kill 28 fish a day, pretty soon those spots not spots no more... Just sayin'

Something amusing I find on this sight is how people evolve in different ways. They have the desire, but don’t have a clue. They get a clue, and start catching a few fish. They catch a few fish, and start being an expert. They become an expert, and then judge others based on their “expertise”.
I’m not angry, Heather, but to make an assumption that I am remotely serious on that post so that I can learn Stretch’s spots is rediculous. More rediculous still is that I would use that knowledge to kill a bunch of fish in his spots.
It appears to me that LSK missed the humor part of your post there Vin. Not that you need it from me but, I can vouch for Vin and his contributions towards handicapped fisherman (me). I met Vin here on CF, and later in person at an oyster roast and he subsequently invited me to fish. He has since invited me several times and we have become friends. I can honestly say that Vin has made me a better fisherman and is responsible for my first (and only) inshore slam and my biggest red ever caught. I have met Stretch and wish I had a 1/4 of his fishing knowledge. I think Vin and Stretch would probably like each other as it seems that they both hold a similar appreciation for the art of fishing and both practice conservation.

I admire him alot on this sight, because he shares the joys of what he does with an intelligent view point on conservation. I’m pretty certain along and along I’ve expressed that to him, which is why I feel I can tongue in cheek throw a poke out there on him without offending him. I look forward to meeting him in person and keep an eye out for him on the water to do just that.
I’ve put countless people on fish, many for the first times in their life. Shared what nuggets of knowledge I can provide to new anglers. Preached conservation and practiced it more than a great many folks. And I am handing those values down to my children, who I hope will in turn give it to theirs.
I try to give back as much or more than I get.
My guess is you are a better person than some of your posts. I hope I’m right. Just sayin’
Either you misunderstood me or I misunderstood you as I meant no harm by my statement. All I was sayin' is that respectful inshore guides will not kill 28 fish in a trip.
