New to the site. Been reading all of yalls recent post. New to inshore fishing. New to sc. Fished a few times at Pitt street bridge with no luck using mud minnows. Got lots of crabs in our traps! So that was a plus. Fished folly last night looking for sharks and any thing that would bite. Caught a nice size croaker and used it for shark bait. Any help on location or bait would be great thanks!

I have NEVER not caught a fish a t Pitt Street. This is what I do to ensure success. I bring two rods. One is rigged with a 1 oz sinker carolina rig with about 10 inches from the swivel to the 3/0 or 4/0 circle hook and I either put live mud minnows (the best), live shrimp, or cut mullet or squid. That rig will catch you flounder, reds, some trout and other assorted fish. The second rod I bring is rigged with a popping cork with a 12 inch leader to a 3/0 or 4/0 circle hook if I’m using live bait. The best and only live bait I use for the popping cork is live shrimp, or mud minnows. If I’m using artificial under the popping cork I use a good ole DOA. Some days the fish love artificial and some days they like live. It’s hit or miss. I hope I helped.
Oh and with the popping cork you have to make sure you’re using it right or its not very effective. Make sure you just ■■■■■ your wrist with a little strength to get the cork to gurggle across the surface of the water. You don’t want to do it too hard. I always pop the cork and let the bait settle for up to 7 seconds and pop it again.

Was ther again to yesterday. Caught a pin fish. Kids down from me hooked up on 2 red fish. I was using shrimp. They were using FM o. A hook, no rig no weight. I would have switched but I had the kids with me so I wasn’t going to do that walk back to the truck for my cast net
I was using a c c rig.
Yeah I always fish with live MM on a Carolina Rig, never more than a 1/2 oz egg sinker and work it on the bottom, I can meet you down there one day and fish with ya … see if I can help, if thats something you would wanna try
