You shouldn?t have an issue finding the Conflicts at Haddrell’s or The Charleston Angler if you live in the Charleston area. We will start shipping to our dealers sometime around October/November. I personally use a 4000 for inshore baiting for big reds and then bump up to a 5000 and 6000 for nearshore/offshore applications.
It seems that Penn is starting to grease their HT100 drag washers. As evidence from the release of the new Spinfisher V with its sealed/greased drag system. And now it looks like the new Conflict is getting grease on the washers by their description online, and the pictures above.
So my question is, should those of us with older Battle reels without greased washers be applying drag grease to them? I know a lot of arguments online say yeah/neah, but it looks like Penn is starting to grease them with all their new reel developments.
Good question, PENN has always greased the drag washers in their conventional reels but as of 2 years ago we started greasing the drag washers in the spinning reels. HT-100 (Which comes in all PENN spinning reels over $100) can function with or without grease but we have found that you can extend the life of your drag by greasing them. We also found that the grease helps keep water out the drag and drag material. So for you guys who have dry HT-100 drags (Not greased) in your PENN spinning reels it is not a must to add some grease but it does improve performance, longevity, and corrosion resistance. There are several brands of grease out there that will work but all PENN reels come greased from the factory with PENN’s blue grease and we do sell it. I do know that Haddrell’s carries it and they use it in the parts and repair center.

Yes that is incorrect thanks for pointing that out. I?ll get with Tackle Direct to get it corrected. September 15th is when we normally start shipping all new products to our dealers but some items do not follow this schedule as planned. We expect to start shipping Conflicts around October. I?m sure you can preorder through TD if need be. Thanks
