I am coming to edisto soon and have been coming to edisto for 30+ years we always go to shell island and otter island to let the family snoop around. Was wondering is there anywhere else to go by boat. we were just wanting a change of scenery. Boat is big enough to travel a good distance. Any ideas. Thanks!

I read this week it unlawfull to have a dog on Otter! Some thing about tern nesting! Fed. B/S. you might try cruseing around Monkey Island Look carefully and you will see the monkeys , kids love that!

Put in at steamboat and go to the devaeux bnx (sp) at low tide. Nice ride out and nice sand there. We take the canopy and spend the day. Just beach your boat on the river side of the island shallow between island and main beach

Where is Shell Island? I go out to Otter and my dog loves it. Maybe we need a change.
Botany Bay(shell island) area I don’t know how many people call it that but that’s what my family has always called it. I think you can still put a boat in if you go down Botany Bay road not sure. I always used my skiff but you could maybe use a bigger boat if the tide is high enough but I have seen boats hung up waiting on water to get back.
Don’t get caught on Deveaux Bank! That area/island used to be federally protected because of some type of nesting sea bird. It was unlawful to be on that island at all.
As for something to do, Botany Bay Plantation is always a good trip for us.
