My baitcasting reel finally died, I’ve been using it for twenty plus years, salt and fresh water, anybody have a any suggestions for a good replacement,
My 30 year olds Mitchell 300 started making a weird clicking noise the same day, may be replacing it next lol
I think they all are decent once you hit the hundred dollar mark. I got abu , shimano , diawa. I like them all. I don’t think you can go wrong with the middle of the road priced stuff but some of those new reels are way out of my price range.

My Shimano baitcasters don’t hold up well in the salt. I would go with a mid-range ABU Garcia.
I’ve been thru so many good reels till I received a Diawa Coastal as a gift for taking some one fishing years ago and I cant wear it out! I use it to inshore fish on the coast and to cast Alabama rigs on the upstate lakes.I fish at least 8 times a month year around I have it spooled with 50 # braid and even caught a 35# Amberjack this summer in Alabama. As far as casting reel s go I think this thing is the best!
I second the Daiwa Coastal.
