hello all! I just moved here to Beaufort, and I am very new to the low country type fishing. I have never seen tides fluctuate so much being from Pensacola, Florida. We have finally found a few spots to catch speckled trout and redfish but I need to put some flounder in the freezer. Can anybody give me any pointers on flounder gigging in the low country? I have a 19’ Carolina skiff and have it rigged up with only 2 shop lights with 50 watt 12 volt bulbs (hooked to a marine battery). Places to go?, what to look for?, I would appreciate any and all help. I put in by laurel bay.
Thanks
gig the same banks that you are catching the trout and bass. flounder also like the sand so look for sandy banks. i have always done better with an incoming tide. water seems to be clearer. its muddy as hell right now because of the rain, so it might be best to wait until we have a few days without rain before trying it.

thanks a lot reel nauti. How far up the Broad would you go right now? are the fish up by whale branch and the burnt trussle? Or should I go down by Parris Island, Lemon Island? Just new to the area. And I am catching the bass and trout on oyster beds in whale branch. Seems pretty muddy there to gig? what do you think?
There is definitely flounder around whale branch and the burnt trussle. I’ve gigged the Parris island, broad river, lemon island area alot and I know there are fish there too. Those areas are in alot bigger water so the conditions have be perfect to be able to gig there. There isn’t many places to get out of wind around the broad river. The water is really muddy there right now too. You might be better off staying around whale branch until the water clears up.

Thanks a lot for all the info. I really appreciate it. We are going to try next weekend if the weather is better. What kind of setup do you have?
