Another Midlander here. From Monetta and Blythewood. Trying to get up to speed for retirement in few years after long spell away from the salt. Got a few buddies that like to fish but they act like some kinda workaholics sometimes. I go by myself if I have to but easier with a good fisherman along. Still got a lot to learn but I manage to catch a cold erry now and agin.

I haven’t this winter. Last winter we did and we did ok. Have you been yet this winter?

Haven’t made it to Santee, but have fished Hartwell, Clakk HIll, Greenwood and Murray. It seems that the weather or something has not been working with the fish. I usualy do well in the cold rain but we have not had much this winter!

You guys use blue backs or artificial? I was only shown how to fish deep with blue backs and mirror jigs. From what I hear it’s better up there than it is down here.

In the winter on rainy day we run the birds and cast bucktails, alabama rigs and plastics to breaking fish, other time we pull plainer boards with big gizzard shad in the shallows. When I lived in Sumter back in the early 70’s we caught a lot trolling bombers in Whyboo in late january and feb. Good luck!

Bangstik I see your avatar is a smallie, you fish the broad often, if so where at??? I’m in Prosperity, have a place on the broad that I spend a lot(a lot) of time at during the summer chasing the brown fish
