I’ve been reading everyone’s posts for a while now but this is my first time posting.
I’m wondering what bait is best for night fishing from the dock? I’m thinking with limited viability the smellier the bait the better but I thought I’d find out what’s been working.
Probably targeting Reds/Trout/Flounder maybe some shark.
Thanks for the help
If we knew what we were doing it wouldn’t be called research.
also keep in mind that darker bait sometimes works better at night, especially in moonlight. It seems backwards, but they say darker bait is better in murky or dark water. Of course live bait will be best. Good luck.
Thanks guys I’m going to give it shot this weekend. Do you recommend any tides, low or high? Or just any movement? I wouldn’t have though darker bait would be better but I’ll give it shot. I play to fish atleast 2 rods so I’ll experiment and report on that.

Work smarter, not harder!
if the dock has lights shining on the water, try throwing some artificials for trout. Been a while since I’ve fished from a pier, but we used to tear up the trout with pretty much any smallish, light colored jig at night. Flounder will sometimes hang out near the edges of the lit areas as well, like others said try dragging a finger mullet or mud minnow around, keep trying different areas and you’ll probably find something!
