No Hiesman

Don’t forget, these are kids we are talking about… college kids… sometimes they think with the #icks , make stupid decisions, etc. A lot of the younger generation’s thinking is all about today, not tomorrow or let alone, next year.

" It is what it is".

Jameis didn’t have to pay a penalty for stealing crab legs…what’s the worse crime?

Stealing crab legs or signing your name on a photo because people appreciate what you do?

Actually, he did serve a suspension from the baseball team.

In my own personal opinion, these kids should be able to get paid for their own likeness. They aren’t getting paid to play, who cares if someone is willing to pay them $20 for an autograph?! Its pretty outrageous if you think about it. Just another NCAA rule that needs to be rewritten.

You can and do get paid for use of a likeness. Just not while on an NCAA roster.

If you don’t like the rule, then get rid of it.

Then, high school kids can be offered a million or two for an autographed national championship hat, which they haven’t yet won.

How can you say you hate how college football is becoming more commercialized and then say that you think kids should be paid something that isn’t paid to the rest of the team?

Treat him like he’s a (**() Tarheel!! Suspensions, probation for the team, bowl ineligibility, forfeit some wins, scholarship losses for 3 years, surrender your first born…

Alright, alright…don’t jump on me…it was only a joke.

If I said to you, hey Phin, you’re the greatest lawyer I’ve ever seen!! Can you autograph my briefcase for me?

You say yes and then you can’t practice the next two cases that come your way…

Is that fair? What does one thing have to do with the other?

I’m fine with people making as much money as they can in other parts of their lives with other talents. They are still amateur athletes. They are NOT getting paid to play. They are getting paid to sign a picture…

The danger I see in changing the sport we love…is PAYING AMATEUR ATHLETES T

And isn’t anyone else the least bit concerned that Salty can’t even spell Heisman!!???!!!

Good point here^

Treat everyone fairly. That means if you wanna pay em a stipend, they all get the same- across Division I, across Division II, across an entire roster.

Everybody who can’t go work at the Burger joint, dollar theater, ABC grass cutting, or sand pounding, inc. ought to get the same $ for being on a team, going to meetings, memorizing a 3" thick playbook, not skipping any classes, and getting up at 4AM for mat drills every spring, etc.

That is the reason for the rule, people. You don’t put a kid into a free market system where he can be paid what irrational college football fans believe he is worth. Have you lost your minds?

The THUGA people are petitioning Obama to “pardon” Gurley though, so don’t worry. You will get to see him again soon!

Follow the rules. If the rules aren’t fair, then make them fair.

My wife and I went far into debt to get our education. How much debt did Gurley have to go into?

Think about that the next time you complain about how much $$$ some career makes. Very likely that they had to go without and sacrifice quite a bit to get to the point where they make what you think is unfair.

I will go away now. Sorry for the rant.

For the record…I did notice, but didn’t want to say anything. Thought it was a Clemson twist on the word.

There a big difference.

No offense, but I’ve seen you run. I would certainly describe you as girly like, but not Gurley like…like, you get it?
