Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Depends how long he is suspended. The way the NCAA is it could be years or he could play this weekend

He’s done, finished, over, go pro and see if you can get a free agent contract now. He could have raped a girl, stolen crab legs, cheated on a test or something that could land him in prison. Nope he committed the cardinal sin, he sold his autograph. He should be shot in the kneecaps.

In my own personal opinion, these kids should be able to get paid for their own likeness. They aren’t getting paid to play, who cares if someone is willing to pay them $20 for an autograph?! Its pretty outrageous if you think about it. Just another NCAA rule that needs to be rewritten.

Kid is suspended over $400…

Didn’t this exact same thing happen last year with Johnny Football? Was he ever suspended? Or was that the first half of the Rice game suspension?

Sounds like the same violation A.J. Green was involved in a couple of years ago. I think A.J. got a slap on the wrist, like a 1/2-game or 1-game suspension. It sounds like T.G.'s situation is a lot more involved.

From a purely selfish standpoint, I hope he returns this season; that kid is a once-in-a-decade player.

Similar, he was suspended for a half against Rice.

Doubt it. It’s really stupid on the NCAA to have this rule. It’s even dumber on Gurley’s part for breaking it. The young man has to get through another couple of months as a broke college kid. A few months of giving his all for his team and possibly winning the biggest award in CFB before he has one helluva lot of money to play with.

He should be suspended for a game or two for even being tempted to do something that stupid.

Won’t happen.

What did Braxon Miller get? I thought he got several games for selling a game jersey.

This is ridiculous. This guy has to play a third year of football (look what happened to Marcus Lattimore) and can’t even sign some jerseys for a little cash. You’ve got to be kidding.

What’s really ridiculous is that this is under the guise of the players own good. The NCAA is supposed to be about fostering student athletes and promoting amateur athletics. Bullcrap. How does this “help” Todd Gurley? All this does is let the NCAA and UGA continue to exclusively profit off the brand that is Todd Gurley. This isnmt about the well being of the player, it’s about making sure that scumbag Mark Emmert and posse continue to have funding for their seven figure salaries. Absurd.

I thought Braxton’s was autographs also, and he got cleared.

He always had the option of not going to college, then he could autograph his paycheck from working at the carwash and get 190 bucks for it after taxes every week for the rest of his life. Rules are rules. If you don’t like them, exercise the other option.

And in six months Gurley will make more in a football season than Emmert and his Cronies combined make in 10. Rules are rules, he’s dumb as a brick for even considering it much less doing it and not thinking he would get caught.

Are you thinking of Terelle Pryor? Could be wrong, but I thought his was trading memorabilia for tattoos/cash. It came to light in the offseason, so rather than face a suspension he declared for the NFL supplemental draft. Because that’s definitely for the good of the student-athlete, to impose such a ridiculous punishment they leave school early and don’t finish their degree.

No he won’t. Emmert made almost 2 million last year, and his career doesn’t have a six-year shelf life.

I could take it a little better if they just admitted they were running a business. But this notion that they have the player’s best interests at heart is a farce. They use these guys for profit, and they do

Gurley will make bank. Take the endorsements, ads, salary, autographs, merchandise etc., for a six year career it isn’t inconceivable that he could make $100 million over that span if he is smart about it.

I’m not against what you say, they are running a business and profiting off his name as well as the names of other kids. That’s what business is, it isn’t charity. Gurley is also being given something that other pay to have, an education from a good university if he should choose to earn it. Thinking the kids are innocent and being taken advantage of though is a farce. Most people would jump at the chance to have the opportunities given to these young people and do it without begrudging the the universities the ability to profit from their abilities.

Gurley did something he knew was against the rules, got caught and has to pay a price for it. Is it fair, not really but, it is the system and the rules as it stands. The kid is phenomenal and fun to watch every time he touches the ball. Hopefully this gets cleared up and he can continue to play, if not he can be assured that in a few months he’ll be injury free and ready to make that paycheck.

He alone is responsible for his actions, he got caught, hurt his teammates and now has to pay for it for all of them.
