Had an inshore trip planned for today, but it fell through at the last minute. Decided to hit the surf at North Folly. Fished just a little north of my normal cul-de-sac spot, but not quite to the rock groins.
Tough conditions - windy and a strong longshore current. Tough keeping bait on the hook. Caught a couple of small whiting early, then this bruiser showed up.
39 inches. New personal best. Great fight! Couldn’t budge him once I got him in the shallows. Had to hand off the rod to some fellas watching it unfold, so I could go in and grab him by the tail and get him up on the sand. They were also nice enough to snap the photo for me. Thanks guys!
Rising tide. Frozen mullet. Longshore really picked up about 3:00, so I called it a day.
