Had a couple of hours to burn this morning. Hit north Folly from 10:15-11:30. Normal spot off the cul-de-sac. Caught a small whiting on the first cast. Nothing for a while, and then this fella happened by.
33" Red. Personal best. Good fight. Frozen shrimp. Double-hook bottom rig. Falling tide.
Nice catch. I got skunked there Friday evening minus a 12" or so whiting. Had to be the biggest whiting I’ve caught.
Downside to fishing by yourself, no one to take that pic holding it. Don’t get me wrong, I have a bunch of the same on my phone.
Thanks. Surprised by it, honestly. For the past month or two, that spot has been pretty boring - whiting and small blues. Was not expecting a big red, yesterday. Definitely made my day.
Occasional whiting and small blues are all I’ve been getting there too. Actually got a small lady fish the other day but haven’t seen a red in a year or two. I need to find a better spot. Good for you.
I was there today. Moved back and forth between the spot off the cul-de-sac and the first rock groin. Caught some fish, but nothing to write home about. 8 whiting, 1 blue fish, 1 lady fish, two stingrays and something fairly large that snapped my line. Was shaping up to be a good fight, then “snap!” Oh, well.
