Fished North Folly from 11:00-2:00 yesterday. My normal spot down by the rocks was taken, so I just setup about 100 yards north of the cul-de-sac access path. Caught two Pompano (13" & 10" fork length) on frozen shrimp. Caught both in a 10 minute span about an hour before high tide. That was it. Not a banner day, but no skunk.
Looks like frozen shrimp is the ticket right now. I went to my favorite spot on the beach about 5 pm. Small frozen shrimp from the Piggly Wiggly on a single drop bottom rig with a 2 oz homemade sputnik weight. Three nice black drum; a 13 ", a 15 ", and a 20 incher in about 30 minutes. A couple hours before low tide. Kissed 'em and set 'em free.
i tried the penny cocktail (fiddler with a piece of shrimp) at sullys yest for sheephead and felt a couple hits that stole the bait. silly me why would i think it was really a sheephead? i finally get one hooked and up comes a baby endangered sea bass. got a few of those and a sand perch…no sheephead for me.
