North Folly - 6/16

Fished North Folly from about 9:30 - 2:00. Frozen finger mullet and frozen shrimp. Slow day overall, but I did manage this 30" red. Personal best. Decent Father’s Day. No complaints.

is that sea lice on its tail? a couple of the reds i caught a little way down the river from there on thursday had those parasites on them

Nice red. Been a while since I’ve seen something super nice on n folly. Get him beach front or channel side?

Brickyard15, I hadn’t noticed until you pointed it out. Completely missed the hanger-on. No idea what that is.

JaGads, beachfront. Just up the from the access path off the cul-de-sac. Completely surprised by it. That’s spot’s been decent this spring for Pompano and whiting (and shark pups galore), but I usually have to move down by the rocks to catch reds.

Nice fish. I’ve never had much luck from that spot. You caught him early in the day?

About 10:00 am. Bite really died off after the sun got higher.

Wow I’m surprised. Only ever caught whiting and pups from that spot. That’s awesome.

Yeh, a surprise for me too. Although, I’d like to get out there on a spring low and take a look around. Sand seems to have shifted on North Folly over the winter. I’ve never had much luck at that spot in the past, but this spring has been fairly productive. Mainly just whiting, pompano and shark pups, but I did hook a good size black drum that spit the hook about 10 feet from the beach a couple of weeks ago, and now this red. Wondering if a little cut has formed over the winter. By the same token, other spots down by the jetties definitely look different and I haven’t had any luck down there, recently.
