Not a UDC report...

Thanks to Steve for consistently posting. Here is my weekend report. Had to fish around the heat this weekend but that was okay because the low tides were early. Water was about 90 by late morning. On Saturday, put in at Steamboat landing and struggled a bit to find bait. It took a while but we found enough to fish and ended up with about six trout and eight bass. Most were in deeper water, with current and structure. At the low tide on Saturday, tried to find shrimp on the South Edisto near my house and really struggled, two shrimp in about 45 minutes from spots that normally really produce. I guess the shrimp do not inhabit the shallows with this heat. At just about dark, went to a favorite spot to enjoy the sunset and used cut mullet and in just about twenty minutes caught two over the slot reds and another right in the slot, all released. I think the cooler temps might have helped. On Monday morning, we traveled into Shingle creek early to find shrimp and we did but they were very small and in deeper water. Fished a few spots in St. Pierre, South Edisto and Fishing creek and ended up with a nice flounder and a couple of nice bass. So, given the heat and issues with bait, it was a pretty good weekend. The fish were around oyster beds, docks when the water was moving, this weekend all on the incoming. Now, if we would just get some rain.

I’m finding the same thing.
We are staying on the island this week and I’ve been wondering if my water temp gauge is right. I’ve been reading 90-94 at the dock in the afternoons.
We have caught a few trout but they have been out in the deeper water closer to the ocean in the cooler water.

Nice to see a report from edisto. Good job catching.
