offshore friday

went out to the deli to troll for some wahoo on friday. nothing on the troll, didnt even see any bait out there on the surface or sounder. trolled about 2 hours and called it quits. didnt find any big enough baits for groupers for groupers so tried the bottom. got a mess or real nice triggers and red porgies. caught some beeliners that were released. hooked a couple groupers, but they broke the light hooks we were using. hopefully get back out there with big baits next time and put some in the box.

Thanks for sharing dude, we haven’t had an offshore report in quite a while. Sorry you didn’t see any Hoos! I’ve been aiming to get out far enough to get into some grouper, but the deli is not in my comfortable “sanity” range. As it cools down, hopefully some 20 mile spots will hold them.

Baracuda,

Welcome to the Bft/HH site.

What kind of ride are you going out there in? The Deli is a ride! As A Salt Weapon said, it is good to hear an offshore report. At least you were not skunked.

Some of us should get together and go sometime but it will have to be laid down.

There are alot of really good folks on here.

Thanks for posting.

You won’t believe I was just thinking the same thing.

I was gonna as the purchase will be complete this week, just waiting on the sale to complete tomorrow. Did not want to put “Almost” on both…lol

You gotta see some of this stuff he carries on the boat…no room for the toilet in the head…lol…like a floating ambulance!!!

Hell of a guy, retired Marine. 77years old and still with it. Giving speeches at Paris Island to recruits, involved in Vets Day parade then something at the downtown cemetery. All in Vet’s name.

Sorry for getting off point here but he deserves the Kudo’s…IMO

Hope to hear from ya Baracuda.

Let me know if you fellas would like to put together a bottom trip this fall. I can get the boat, just don’t have all the tackle and know-how for those grouper.

Tuna, well you can go ahead and sign me up for sure. I have three reels that are plenty strong enough. I’m sure madfire and NN have some setups that will hold their own too. I know a lot of the rigs and can make us up a dozen or so before we head out. I’ve fished for them extensively in Florida, but haven’t gotten off the coast far enough to do so around here. As far as the know-how… I’m decent at reading a GOOD depth finder. B Liners and such have a pretty distinctive pattern on the sounder, and groupers usually aren’t too far behind them. I don’t know any “spots” though. I think there is enough knowledge on here to help us out. Friends give friends advice, and private messages are always welcomed

Shoot me a text man, we’ll definitely get something together soon. I’m available any weekend this month except for Thanksgiving weekend and any weekend in the early half of December will work for me too. Let’s do this! Should be fun. Lots of cool people and enough collective know-how to have a good day out there surely.

Sorry Barracuda… this happens from time to time. We didn’t intend on high jacking your thread! We just get a little excited talking about fishing sometimes LOL. Welcome aboard though, and we look forward to your input and reports.

yah it was a little bit of a ride. was hoping to capitalize on the cold front and the hurricane that went through. figured the fish would be hungry. next time out i will start working my way offshore to see if there’s any grouper holding closer in. unfortunately i am new to the area so i only have a handful of numbers to try.

im all about buddy boating out there. i normally dont consider going out in seas over 3’. not worth getting beaten up over a couple bottom dwellers haha. i will be available the last half of december any day of the week. shoot if the weather is nice on weekday we can all jump on mine and roll out.

Sounds good to me as well. Looks like we have accomplished the “easy” part(talking about it)…lol.

Now need off days and good weather to align.

Bring some Sabiki’s and you can be the bait catcher……after giving more thought to this and not wanting you to get bored the rest of the trip, I think you could then use the gaff and or net to keep you busy…:stuck_out_tongue:.
