A 50 pounder here will often only have 6 pounds of meat that isn’t ate up with worms! Take up less room in the fish box by keeping a 12 pounder with no worms instead. Amateur tip*

28" fork length.My wife and I are particularly fond of the 12-15# AJs when cooked FRESH on the grill.They may have a few worms near the tail,but I just cut them and an extra 1" out and grill the rest.It is white,flaky,and MADE for some garlic-ginger marinade and Cavender spice.The last time I went out with my dive buddies,I took home 1/2 of a 30# gag and it had worms in it.I cut them out and cooked it anyway.It was tough and strong tasting.The wife says she doesn't want any more of it.I like small scamps,<10#,small AJs,and almicos as good as any other fish that I catch while bottom fishing.I think large grouper and large red snapper are overrated.They look pretty on the dock and in innerdnet reports,though.Just my 175/th of a gallon of gas worth.
