I totally agree. Ignorance is bliss.
Killed the fish with no plans to mount it or put it to any use. Sad indeed.

It is a legal fish to bring to the scale, house or wherever he decides. Why get your panties in a wad? Are they endangered? It appears that he is holding a filet knife in one picture which tells me he is planning to eat it. Have any of you all ever tried one? They may be tasty.
I had tarpon patty in the Bahamas. It leaves a lot to be desired taste wise.

Shame on all the news channels for glorifying this. It is obvious these two guys didn’t know better, but they will find out when dinner is served. No positive publicity should be given for “this catch of a lifetime.” I hope all the other rednecks in the upstate that come to the coast for vacation look at the posts from this story and can use better judgement than Bobby Mack did.
I enjoyed the article last year about the older fellow who caught a possible state record poon from the kayak last year but released it.
Easy on the upstate. What they did was no worse than geechie assed locals with a stringer of undersized spot tails. I agree they “neck” was strong though. I’d have let it go.
" they ain’t never seen nothin like that" that explains it all.
It is very sad…are they any good to eat that size anyway???

In the short time that I have been a member of this forum, I have quickly realized that it has it’s share of members that like to try to get a rise out of the majority. Hopefully no one ever feeds them here.

HUH? what is the difference in this fish being brought to the dock or a big breeder blue marlin other than money? or the fact that that there are quite a few more tarpon. I never fish for them or post pictures of my fish, but i will make a point of it this fall to catch one and post a picture of it on the dock!

to busy catching trout to sit and wait for a tarpon bite.
They could have at least put on their wife-beater shirts before they took the pictures. Unless you have a chiseled body, nobody wants to see your shirtless-ness.
