Although that is a beautiful trout, I will have to say it looks well short of 5 lbs. At 23 inches, it should only weigh in at around 4 pounds (Charles Wenner- SCDNR report - History of Spotted Seatrout).

can we see some pics of your 20"+ trout?
Do I have to show a picture of a 20" trout in order to understand 23" and 24" trout do not weigh 5 and 6 pounds respectively?
who gives a **** dude

Here is a 23 inch trout that weighed 3.5 lbs. I understand you have more fish, reds at least, up Charleston way, they must be heavier. Bob

So…are you in eighth grade or seventh? Why are you acting like this? The man caught some nice fish and posts up weights that he read. What’s the matter with you? Why does it matter if you don’t believe him? All that matters is that he caught a couple of nice trout and wanted to share them with everyone. I, for one, appreciate the report as I’m sure do most of the other readers. There’s always one guy…
Trust me, if you knew anything about Hoppy and the quality of fish that he catches on a regular basis, you’d keep your mouth shut.
I’m willing to bet that he outfishes 98% of the guys on this site behind only a couple of the local guides maybe…
Great report Hoppy.

thanks for the nice words 23
congratz
great picture Bob.
and there is one other thing that in my minds eye is probably the single most important thing about those 2 fish -
i got them both back in the water fast and other than their pride being hurt, they are both still fine. how many people would have let to trout like that go free??
go me
feel you hopster
Oh De Trout Wer Ha U Be

23Sailfish- You are absolutely correct. It is a wee bit childish, but you’ve got to expect some raised eyebrows over casual reports of 5 and 6 pound trout which are extremely rare and “fish of a lifetime” for most anyone in this area.
Good job,Hoppy, but I have to ask.Are those reelly trout or are they weakfish?Did you count their gillrakers? Were your scales certified? Were you fishing at the Grillage?Serously, those are some VERY nice fish.Congratz.

Pfffffftttttttt
How much are you willing to bet?
No disrespect intended Hoppy, but if I am ever going to get some trout cred around here I am going to have to take a chunk of yours.
A case of your finest?

There are two or three guys that I personally know of in the area that regularly get on the 5+ lbers…if you know what you’re doing.

23- I can tell you honestly noone down here is ever on any 5 pounders. I would love to book a trip with whomever you are referring if they are guides.
RADDADDY Speak for yourself. I’m on 'em. Caught this one this AM and then planted six acres of corn. I had to wear a disguise to thwart the people that try to follow me. Bob
PS Now , back in the real world: This pic was emailed to me this AM by someone who doesn’t know about CF.com. I’m trying to get the story and location. I did plant the corn
