Opinions on Suzuki four stroke

I am in the market for a used CC, and while I somewhat familiar with E-tecs and Yamaha, there have been several with a 4 stroke Suzuki.
Any opinions? (BTW, search function produced no results.)

I’ve had good service from my 2006 200 HP Zuke. It runs good and strong, but I did have the fuel pump replaced under warranty as a precaution since it was making a strange noise. It’s very good on fuel also! I’ll burn 50 gallons on a 45-50 mile offshore trip with 4 people on a 22’ CC.

hope thats just going out miles and not total... 1 mpg would suck.. ive got a zuke 250 on a heavy 23ft cc that i absolutly love..... gets 6 miles to the gallon trolling and averages around 3 mpg alltogether. i say they are the best 4 stroke on the market right now.... ive got 957 trouble free hours on mine in less than 2 years..

Zukes are outstanding motors. The only problem is that there seems to be a limited number of places where you can get work done if needed.

I have a 140 HP on a 2007 Key West 186 CC and love it. No issues so far. It averages between 4 and 5 mpg depending on how hard it is being driven and conditions.

Love mine - have not had a single problem.

Yes, that’s miles offshore not total.

I’ve had 3 2003 140’s put 700+ hours zero problems, got two 2007 175 now zero problems. Almost never see a topic about “my Suzuki won’t start, won’t rev up” etc. I will buy another…Alot of people have complained about customer support…?? I’ve never needed them…

I love my 225 Johnson 4 stroke (made by suzuki). I also think this is the best 4 stroke on the market.Very dependable motor.Would definately recomend.

Don’t know if there is a website or if you can call up to shops in the area, but Suzuki motors seem to be the motor of choice in the Wilmington, NC area. When we are up there it seems like all the Carolina Skiffs are powered by Suzuki’s.

Even the NC DNR boats are mostly Suzuki motors.

I had one on my 18’ Sea pro that ran like a top every time. When my motor on my jon boat dies, I will put a 25hp Suzuki on it.

I believe Suzuki has a $700 rebate on all motors over 40hp right now.

Thanks for the response. It was a couple of really clean Sea Pros that had the Suzuki. As it turns would up getting a Yamaha F115 on a KW196BR instead.

I have a 115 Suzuki 4 stroke (2007). This is the best engine I have ever owned so far. 200 plus hours on it & all I have done is
routine maintenance. very easy on fuel, it runs like the day I put it in the water & looks like it too. you can’t go wrong with a Suzuki

Just bought 2 225 Zukes from Butler Marine. Outstanding motors.Very quiet and strong. Have 16 hrs on them and have used a little less than 1/2 tank of fuel (@100 gallons).

suzuki probably builds the most reliable motor on the market, with the exception of corrosion protection. they still have issues with corrosion, and the support from the factory if and when u do have a problem is less than stellar.
If they would get their factory support on par with Yamaha Honda or mercury, They would be my first choice in outboards, but until that happens, they are still last on my list

Does the loud whinning not bother any of you with suzukis? Also Chris V how bad does it suck when you have to repair one of those chains and you to rip the whole motor apart just to get to it.

From reds to marlin you got it.

I went out with Loosewire and his 200 ran very quite. Didn’t hear any whinning from his motor. The only time you realy heard the motor was when trolling along and it was up and down with the waves. I’ve heard other motors make more noise than that.

How many local guides do you see with Suzuki’s?

All of the 4 strokes are great now. I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. Granted, some are probably a little better than others and brand loyalty with certain brands like Yamaha will still persist. Having said that, the worst 4 stroke out there (if there is a bad one) is still far better than any 2 stroke outboard.

I would not let any 4 stroke outboard stop me from buying a boat. If price is not an issue and you have a choice, go Yamaha. Never had an issue with any Yamaha and there is a huge brand loyalty unlike no other with this brand. Zukes are great engines too!

The worst 4-stroke is better than any 2-stroke…really?
