Options for storing boat to work on trailer

My boat trailer is in need of new leaf springs and bunk board brackets. I’m thinking a 2-3 day job. What are some good options to temporarily store the boat off the trailer?

Slide it off the trailer onto the grass. I have done it quite a few times. When you have finished the trailer, just winch the trailer under the boat.

Use of some heavy grease will greatly help in winching it back on.

Your boat is one of the easiest to load and Unload in the yard as suggested above but make no mistake about it it still pretty difficult. Personally I would try and locate a buddy with a dock where you could leave the boat for a little bit. So long as you have proper tools this is not much more than a three hour job, get another set of hands and you should be down to three or less. Taking the boat to a public ramp in the middle of the winter when no one is around and tying up to the outside of the dock is an option so long as you have a small generator to power up an angle grinder/sawsall makes this option feasible. I have changed leaf springs multiple times with boat on the trailer using multiple jack stands makes it safe and it’s really not too difficult, off trailer is easier though. Bunk work pretty much must be done with boat off.

Contender1 you know the struggle! I would love to use the boat landing, but no power. My wife has a friend with a dock. That might be the way I go.
Thanks for the ideas everyone.

Nice offer there Blue!

I pre-drilled new bunks and launched the boat at Paradise Landing on a weekday (place is usually empty). Beached it and had the new bunks installed in 20 minutes.

For the leaf springs, you should be able to do that job with the boat on the trailer. The bunks are mounted directly to the trailer frame, which leaves the leaf springs separate. Just put the trailer with the boat on some floor jacks and you should be good.

I have a buddy with some real heavy duty jack stands. I need to give him a buzz.

I put a new axle and leaf springs under my trailer last year with my 21 ft boat on the trailer. The trailer was on a concrete slab. I cut a couple of 6x6 posts into 1 ft long blocks with my chain saw. Then, I let the tongue jack all the way down. I put “piers” under the rear of the trailer frame using 2 6x6 blocks per layer, alternating the direction of each layer of the stack. Then, I jacked the tongue jack as high as it would safely go and put a 6x6 stack back where the tongue joins the main part of the trailer. Then I took off the tires. Next, I took the bolts out of the springs and slid the axle/spring assembly out.

Assemble the new springs to the new axle, raise one end with a floor jack if necessary and block it up until the other end is bolted to the trailer. Put the tires back on. Do the bunks at the landing.

Your cribbing set up sounds like a secure way to do it. Safety is a big issue when you get all those wheels up off the ground.

You could add jack stands or more piers for extra security. My boat is light for a 21ft.

I found tons of other uses for the 6x6 blocks such as blocking up my bush hog to sharpen blades, etc.
