These questions were asked of me in a recent interview (ongoing). What are your thoughts?
-
Why, in your own words, do you think it’s a good idea for the State of SC to continue to spend public dollars on habitat protection and related wildlife programs?
-
Staying with that thought, what does SC get in return in dollars and cents?
-
And, what does SC get in intrinsic value, in non dollars and cents accounting?
Thanks in advance, Bob Sanders
Tying in to this, I was speaking to my relative who lives in Biloxi. This is an example of what can go wrong. He explained his dismay that the casinos were not allowed on land and instead had to be on riverboats. Much of the beautiful coastal land and vistas he used to know are now all buggered up with glittering lights and casino boats. That is an unimaginable FAIL by the leaders of that state!
My emotions on this topic are so strong, its hard to put together a coherent thought. Think of 100 years ago. 80% of oyster habitat from that era is now gone. What will it be when my kids are my age?
Some things are more important than what the state gets for return in dollars and cents, although as stated, the impact is very large. Our coastal region (especially the ACE Basin) could easily pass as a national park in beauty, and bounty.
Bob, you should copy this thread to the fishing discussion section for more input, just a suggestion
