This will be my first time surf fishing down in Charleston, and I’m wondering how the bait has been looking at Sullivan’s. Also, how’s the bite been as of late?

Saw lots of finger mullet in the surf on Sullivans yesteday. Fished for about 2.5 hours on incoming tide and caught 2 whiting, 2 spot, and a pinfish. All caught on shrimp except one whiting caught on cut mullet. No red or black drum, or anything of size.
I’ve caught a bunch of bluefish and whiting at SI the last few weeks. Blues ranging from 16-23 inches and some nice 16-18 inch whiting. Had a run on what I’m assuming was a bull red that straightened my hook out. Also caught a ladyfish and couple jack crevalle as well. It’s been hit and miss. Best luck I’ve had has been the last hour before low tide and the first couple hours of incoming tide. Tons of finger mullet in the surf and tide pools. A decent cast net and you’ll have all the bait you need.
