Parking lot spearfishing

Does anyone here spearfish in the area known as the parking lot.
I found a nice area last weekend I’d like to go back and dive this summer.
Is the water too shallow in that area for lobster?
After catching a large octopus, I think I may have found a nice spot.
Just wondering it seems the spearfishing section here is dead.
I also plan on diving a good bit this summer from MI and GT if any of you are interested.
I will be looking for new dive buddies in the area.

Divedog, Yes, good spearing. Mostly grouper…occasional hogfish & snapper, tons of slipper lobster, but no spineys.

I’ve got some spots out there, give me a yell when you’re ready to go - once the water warms up a bit, I’ll be all over it.

I'll be tied up with work until the end of May ( outage season for us right now). I'll get back in touch with you then, it's been a while since diving for me. But I sure do enjoy spearfishing.

Where is this parking lot area you are talking about?
You need to at least get around 90’ to see lobsters.

It’s off of Gtown about 25 miles 75-90 ft depending on relief and location.

Rob, you’re not allowed up this far…stay down there in c’town.

it’s roughly midway between Murrells and G’town. I’ve taken bunches of slippers there, but haven’t seen a spiney. Lots of 12 - 20 lb grouper.

Ok Mr. Gumshoe it’s almost time.
I have 2-3 more weeks of this darned outage and them they die.
Fish that is!!!

hi divedog,
I have a few good spots around the parking lot also. I fish out of murrells inlet and gt also. I have been diving a while, but havent gone that far and deep with out being on a dive charter. If you are interested, I’d love to go explore some of the spots i’ve found on my rig this year. Lots of red grouper so far!

Sounds good to me, I’ll be down there from June 7- 17th.
I have to come home for a meeting for my daughter the 10th, but will be back afterwards.
I would love to hook up with you and maybe Gumshoe and try to kill something.
I have to figure out a way to strap the tanks down, may be able to just stack them in the console somehow.
Shoot me your email and number and I’ll give you a call before I head down.
