Pier fishing rod holders question

Does anyone have the dimensions needed to make a good set of pier fishing rod holders?
I’m talking about the ones I see people Velcro, or duct tape to the pier itself.
It don’t seem that hard to build to me, but I don’t want them too short,(I’m 3 hours away and can’t measure deck to rail height on a pier lol)
And I don’t want to lose rods by building a improper holder

Tips? Advice? Blueprint?
Thanks

which pier?

Folly…mount pleasant…
I figured all of them was “close”…
They don’t have to touch the deck itself do they?
Since I will be using 2 Velcro straps on each one.

Actually more concerned with design, rather than hieghth

folly pier has them already mounted if you’re plan on fishing there.

I’m at work right now but I’ll take some pictures of mine and provide some measurements this afternoon.

Mt p pier…46 inch pipe then a street 22.5 into a sanitary “t”. If using spinning reel have front piece 4" and 10" on back of the T. Notch the 4" piece on the side at approx. 4 o’clock position at least an since wide for the pole to seat.
