Pier Fishing

Which piers are available for fishing, and is the fishing good? Not looking to fill six cooler, just spend a day with my wife and catch some fish. Eating fish, would be better!

Don’t have a lot of experience salt water fishing, so looking for any advice.

Edwin Taylor Pier is out on Folly Beach. The Mt. Pleasant Pier is not on the beach but in the Wando River just above the Ravenel Bridge. For the Folly Pier use single or double drop rigs with enough weight to keep your bait in place on the bottom with small hooks and fresh (not frozen) shrimp. You can buy it at any number of local seafood stores. Crosby’s Seafood is on the right just before you get to Folly. Cut your shrimp in half or 3rds depending on the size of the shrimp. A lot of folks also cut up some of the fish they catch for bait. Bluefish and whiting work very well.
Here’s a link for a guy who fishes the Mt. P pier all the time.
