Pier Rod Holder Question

What rod holders do you use when fishing off piers and docks? Seems like there are a ton of gimmicky ones on the internet. what is a tried and true one? Willing to make my own if someone wants to share a DIY. I have sand spikes for areas where I can use them, but looking for a clamp on holder before my kids loose their rods to a monster. thanks!

The dock spike is made by a local company

Down-east rod holder. Highly recommend the double clamp.

Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.

never used one. that is what they make the rail for.

Hey there. Thanks for the shout out Linwood82. I watched a little boy lean a new rod against the rail at Shem Creek Park and have it hit by a large critter to be pulled completely over…GONE. He was heartbroken. I had been developing a holder and introduced Dock Spikes. You can get one locally at Haddrell’s To work with your sand spike or visit oldbridgeoutfitters.com. Happy fishing!
