Should have known better than to get live shrimp for bait this time of year. I couldn’t keep a shrimp on the hook for more than about 30 seconds before the pinfish (I assume) nibbled them off. I even tried Gulp shrimp, crabs, and swimming mullet and the pinfish would chew off the tails, legs, etc. I think some fat mud minnows would have been a better choice. Fished from about 10am to 2pm and never got a real bite. I even switched to a smaller hook hoping to catch a pinfish to use for bait but no success there either.
The wind started out strong and got stronger. I was way back in Moss Creek and it was still blowing whitecaps. Back at the ramp the crosswind was so fierce that I had to turn the boat around on the first try. Then I lined up way upwind for my second approach and got it on the trailer. I think if you can drive a boat onto a trailer around here with these tides and winds, you can probably do it anywhere.
