Pitt St 07/16/2012

Went out about 10 caught some mud minnows and started casting, hooked up with a Flounder good size but he spit the hook as I was trying to grab my net. Had some hard pulls, but couldn’t grab the rod in time. Saw others pull up 4 slot reds, nothing over and a few other small flounder. Right before I left I hooked into another flounder and got him up to the dock 14.5", he is dinner tonight, no pictures just another day on Pitt St. Sort of crowded for a Monday. Left at 3 and stopped by Lowcountry Fly Shop.

That place is hit or miss for me. sounds like a good day, and you have dinner.

Yeah, I have found out, less people more fish, more people less fish, atleast thats how it seems

It’s best at Pitt Street when there aren’t a lot of people and not a ton of noise. Also the best place I’ve found to fish there is all the way at the end of the pier and casting off the right and the left along the grass on the far and near side. Either letting the bait sit on the bottom or using a DOA popping cork seem to always catch me something. It is a very hit or miss spot though.

Think a 3oz pyramid sinker is too much for Pitt Street 2 hours before or after low tide?

IMO the only time you need a 3oz sinker is when you are shore fishing, inshore fishing creeks and such I never fish over a 1 oz egg sinker, usually les 1/8 to 1/2 is pretty consistent for me

Alright, I’ll switch it up to a Carolina rig then.
