Place To Eat???

My wife and I are bringing our oldest son down tonight for his 2 day orientation at CoC. I’m looking for recommendations for someplace to eat thursday night. We are staying over on Savannah Hwy and would prefer something “non-chain”. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hall’s Chophouse or Hank’s… I’ve heard people say they have had the best meals of the lives in both these places. Halls gonna be a bit pricey but worth the visit.

But you might not get in being this is Wed and you eat on Thur… so maybe Slightly North of Broad… usually can get in there.

Glass Onion? or BBQ next to it? both on 17

D, jipride runs the Glass Onion near Doschers on Sav Hwy…great, local eats…brand new place, Swig and Swine, just opened right beside Glass Onion…BBQ, etc…

Swig and Swine. Get the family platter. The three of you will have a ball.

I second Glass Onion. By far one of the best places in Charleston. You could also try Fat Hen on Johns Island.

Two excellent West ashley choices with out breaking the bank. If you are looking for on the water in West Ashley try California Dreaming.

But people will never forget how you made them feel.

Besingers BBQ.

Double D.

There’s a discount coupon on restaurant .com for swig and swine…and I have heard good things about it. Better get it quick as they will Probablly sell out fast. 15.00 coupon for six dollars.

Other places…glass onion, smoky oaks on camp road…and .loggerheads on folly…has a real nice outside deck and good food…

Food is OK, but nothing special... Mediocre...

The most important question is “What is your budget per person?” And what type of atmosphere are you looking for? Do you want to pull up a stool and eat a cheeseburger, or do you want a white table cloth experience at a steak house?

Also, stay away from HUSK. It’s the most overrated restaurant in Charleston.

the magazines say Hymans is TDF. it must be true.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Not looking for fancy, something better than regular chain food but don’t like to dress up to go out. While I appreciate good food, I’m just a regular guy and fortunately my wife is easy to please (yes Peapod she married me so I am stating the obvious).

Thanks all.

He will like the c of c.

Basil up on king street is great. Rue d joun is also good. Save halls for that first great report card.

Big step for your young man. And for mom and dad. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks, we ended up at Smokey Oak tonight. Good food and a great beer selection (not sure if they had Bonzo beer, I like the fancy stuff). We’ll try something else tomorrow night.

He is excited about CoC. I wonder if it has anything to do with all the girls?

I would hope it’s not the guys:sunglasses:. Wait is that intolerance…
Early bird diner and glass onion are both over on Sav hwy and are wonderful and affordable. Smoky oak is one of my favorites as i love bbq and ribs. You know that place is doing something right b/c it has a crowd from noon til 2 am.

early bird diner is fantastic, I also really like that okra grill place… right in my wheelhouse (and budget), plus I just like the food!

I personally like Pearlz in Avondale, especially for happy hour.

Lots of good stuff, I’m sure you will figure it out!

Yes, I like to go to Pearlz in Avondale too. That is a fun little area of west ash.

Then there’s always the early bird special at myabi s near Costco. Always leave there with a full belly and lunch for the next day.
