I’m kinda shocked they told you over the phone, but I’m thankful that it’s not spread and is operable. Praying for a smooth surgery and recovery---- send me a message if you need a hand with anything around there.

Prayers Stono.

Great that it was caught early and there is a good way forward for you.

Getting the “You Have Cancer” notice is scary as heck.

Folks - please see the MD regularly, any money you save by not going won’t do you much good if you croak

Not a good thing Stono! Good that you got it early. I got a call in 2006 at 10PM from the doctor at MUSC. He said my biopsy was Stage 1 malignant melanoma and he wanted me in his office the next day! He cut it out then and there. I had another spot checked 2 years ago and it came back negative. The Dr. told me that this one was an age spot. The smart A$$! Thanks for posting this, as so many guys know there is something wrong and won’t go see a doctor. That’s why women outlive us!

If you are 50+ or have any family history, you need to get checked regularly. Hang in there Joe, and holler if you need anything

Thank you sincerely for your openness with us, Joe. We’ll be praying for you continually. Please keep us posted, and let us know what (not if) we can do to help you out.

Guys do not talk about stuff like that.If this post gets just one of you to get tested I did a great job.PSA get it done.

yes, colonoscopy is not a big deal, I have had several. not painful.

Guys, Get the test done. I had colon cancer with no warning signs at all. Had surgery a while back and started chemo yesterday. Fortunately, I went to the doctor after the “stomach bug” and weakness lasted for the third day. That was the only warning sign I ever had. The oncologist said he sees a lot of patients like me that haven’t had any warning signs. Needless to say it was more than a stomach virus, and thankfully caught early. Don’t take any chances with your health. Lucky for me the kind I have is supposed to be easy to cure.

I’m due to get one next month. edwardh1 is correct, not painful or a big deal. The worst part for me was the medicine to flush you out the day before. Stay close to a bathroom.

Take care Joe…we are all thinking the best for you!
As others have said…ask if you need anything!!!

My Dad had his first one at 52 or 53 and found he had stage 3 colon cancer…he fought it until he passed away last year at 62. Get checked early! I had my first one when I was 32 at my Dad’s oncologist’s suggestion. If you get referred by your regular doctor, most insurance will cover it regardless of age. I was expecting it to be awful, but I’ve had worse hangovers :-).

Glad they caught yours early Joe!!!

If at first you don’t succeed, drink another beer!!!
