Florida State University officials and Tallahassee police took steps to both hide, and then hinder, the criminal investigation into a rape allegation against the school’s Heisman-trophy winning quarterback Jameis Winston last fall, a FOX Sports investigation has found.

If the accuser is telling friends/teammates that, then why not come out in public with it? Put all of it to rest. Tell everyone she doesn’t remember what happened if she wants to not be thought of as a liar. Tell everyone it was a mistake and taken out of context.

100% agree with your feelings on how easy it is to ruin a young man’s life, and that is all fine. It is even easier to ruin a step dad’s life when he’s come into a household where his wife had a couple young daughters. Female prosecutors froth at the mouth over that stuff, and when you’re sitting on a jury you would rather screw up and put a man in prison for 10 or 25 years than risk the chance that he would be able to hurt anymore little girls.
That isn’t what this is about now, though.
An athletic department should not be giving over police reports and other critical info to an athlete’s defense attorney 4 days before a prosecutor even knows about the charges.
Someone’s guilty until proven innocent, but the cops could never get any charges to stick if the way they did business was give their reports to defense attorneys first- before prosecutors even know about a case. The few FSU alum I know would like Winston gone. They love the football but hate the attention he has brought to the school. Now because of it, everyone is looking deeper, and finding many shady things.

No, they don’t want him gone, they want the scrutiny gone but not at the cost of winning. If they wanted him gone for the good of the University’s reputation, he’d be gone. The simple fact his he fills seats and makes them money, that is why they are doing everything to keep his no good ass playing. Jimbo Fisher still thinks he’s a great kid, just full of life and makes a minor mistake every once in a while.

Some people do not believe in win at all cost. In cases like this one, the short term gains do not outweigh the long term goals. Meaning this could hurt recruiting for some time.

I honestly think FSU would be a better, stronger team w/o Winston and his issues…
