Anyone here do any Apnea training in a pool. trying to see if there are others who wouldn’t mind doing some regular pool training between getting in the ocean. Any suggestions of a nice pool around here that is deeper, like the ones that have the 10 meter diving platforms that would allow free dive training.I work out in the aquarium tank which is a 42 foot deep cylinder, but only do it every other Sunday when I work there, looking for a little more frequent practice.

Where are you? Coastal Carolina has a nice 16 ft. pool if you live in the Myrtle Beach area.

I am in Goose Creek so Myrtle would be a little too far, I’m sure there are pools around here that would be ok for dynamic apnea. The one by my house at the country club has an olympic size pool with lanes but it is not any deeper than 8 feet which will be fine for doing side to side underwater swims. I just want to start practicing more and there is no way to get better than to spend time in the water. I will be going to PFI in Florida as soon as I get my cardio up a little and drop a couple of pounds. Plan on going down there within the next 6 months.
Can others gain access to freediving the aquarium?
I volunteer there so sometimes in the morning before we open for guest we will do some freediving in there just for practice. It is a good practice environment, only 42 feet deep but you can get down there, lay on the bottom for a while and then do a couple of side to side swims on the bottom, swim beside some sharks and then head up. They don’t let people just come in from the street and dive in there, you have to be on the volunteer dive team which I have been doing there for 8 years. We don’t do alot of it but we keep working on it and have improved our breath hold times. A year ago I couldn’t even make it to the bottom holding my breath and now it is as easy to me as when I was younger swimming to the bottom of an 8 foot deep swimming pool. I definitely feel freediving has made me a better scuba diver, it causes you to relax and 100 feet doesn’t seem as deep as it once did when you can make it down half that distance or more on a breath.
i would love to do some training…am PFI certified…let me know…8437435789
