Did you see the picture in the sports section this morning of the trout that was caught in a golf course pond?
Holy Crap!

Yes. Good for him. He will regret sending that pic and info to the paper though.
That’s a monster !

Just curious why he will regret it? Becuase that lake side is going to resemble the camping section at Darlington plus fishing rods in about a week? haha
Get out There!
State record fish. A 36" trout is at least mid-teens in weight.

I am aware of an offshore captain who jumped into the ocean off Charleston to resuscitate a state record blue marlin and then released it. The man who caught and released this fish is one we should imitate and honor he let this big girl live and reproduce, i’ll keep 3 or 4 to eat but if they are over 20" they go back! Investing in the future.

I’d send it EVERYWHERE! Better Homes and Gardens, Playboy, Dog Fancy.
THAT is a rediculously incredible fish! Good on him for the release!

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Best trout to eat are 16 inch fish. The rest should all be released.

That 3 footer doesn’t look any bigger then the other 2 trout in yesterday’s paper that were in the mid 20 inch range.

nice fish, probably closer to high 20’s very low 30’s. would coincide with the 10# weight. they are built a lot like stripers and a 36" striper is every bit of 15#
That was a hellova fish, especially on an 8 wt.

Had one on about that size last april in bulls bay. Of course I’ve told the fishtale, but no one I’ve spoken to believes there are trout that size in our waters. Glad to see someone has landed and photographed one. Congrats on a lifetime fish.
I’m generally not too skeptical of fish reports BUT…take a look at the guys finger size in relation to his head size. Either he has some very large hands or a small face. Now measure the width of your finger at the end knuckle (mine is not quite an inch wide) and multiply that measurement down the rest of the fish??
It’s still very nice trout don’t get me wrong!!!
The guy did what most anyone would do as far as releasing that beast. I don’t see why anyone would’nt release that fish… 1. its from a golf course pond, and you’d have to be a moron to eat a fish from a golf course. 2. You can’t mount sea trout cause they are too greasy and the mount would only last 2 or 3 years before it went to crap.
