Got one for ya. Went to Beaufort and helped pick up an advantage 21.5 with a blown motor from overheating due to water pump failure. My buddy talked me out of this spare I had in waiting. Due to track rules you can’t get very radical in the dirt class we ran. This one dyno at 388hp. Boat was factory 260hp. Can’t wait to get this in the water and listen to it with the captains switch in straight out exhaust. Had to modify the tall valve covers for water exchangers on manifold, but other than that pretty much in and out. Got to figure out some of the plumbing and out drive attachment that the previous guy handgrenaded while disassembling. Yes it’s getting a new Gimble bearing. Interior/ exterior is immaculate. Won’t be any good for fishing, but should be a fun boat. Had a top speed of 60 @ 5800rpm per previous owner. This engine should pull a bigger pitch and is built to run 7200ish all day long. I’m thinking we can get 61mph out of her.

Actually the seating is pretty plush! Got a guy in Beaufort that used to do a lot of boat work when not firefighting. He is looking for a couple props for us to try. We calculated some different pitch sizes and rpm ranges. on paper we should be 90+ depending on handling. It’s got some really nice racing trim tabs on it. He wants me to sea trial it, and find out. Not sure I’ve got the nerve anymore. Speed on water starts scaring me past 60 now a days. These boats are made in Arizona and mostly put on lakes. Bad thing is it is raw water cooled. I do know it got up to 75 on the trailer. Pulls good.

I think I’ll just follow him and be a buddy boat when we get it to the water.

I saw this traveling to Columbia this week. You part of the logging operation or Mulching crew? Sure does look different right now.

Started my 100k service a couple hundred early. You think these are original?

Probably so Stump. Used to be lucky to get 12,000 on a set. Modern standards have really changed with improvements in ignition systems. Most manufactures call for 100,000 I like to do them around 60,000 but have seen them not give issues all the way to 180,000. Got to figure they are starting to get less efficient before 100000. With the price of fuel, you want her as efficient as possible. I would normally suggest a copper based anti seize, but things change. Most plug manufactures no longer suggest it. Even say to avoid it. I still put a small dab of dielectric grease on the boot and just a smidge of antiseize on the threads. Tons of info on the web just don’t dive in too deep.

FordTechMakuLoco on youtube said to use nickel anti-seize, so thats what I did… went to 5 auto parts stores before I found it at Napa. Wasnt the motorcraft brand but still nickel. Rated to 2400°F

Nickel is your Professional good stuff. On the motorcraft “brand”, someone else is making it for ford. about 800* on aluminum, 1200* on copper and like you said up to 2400* on nickel. You’d think nickel based would cost more. Also that nickel based is what you want on anything in or around salt water over the cooper.

When it comes to oils and greases, I’ve heard so many angles and sales pitches it boggles my mind on how deep you can go. … I always liked Molly in my heavy grease, come to find out the moly is actually detrimental to high speed bearings and the needle bearings in u-joints. It’s best for pins and bushings.

Had to get some hard white oak for a project, its not always easy to find, especially 5 quarter and 8 quarter stuff.

Theres a place near home that has oddball lumber for special projects, big 4 foot wide slabs, spalted stuff, wormy chestnut, and even old cypress.

Not many places like this left
