Put out some Duck Boxes Today

The old boy I hired to get the stupid beaver in my pond used the beaver gland juice on his traps as an attractant. Those things can do a world of property damage. Was worth the $100.

Gonna try to make a few replies here, lol.

Fred, I cut the ■■■■■■■ off some boars several years ago, but the were maybe 60or 70lbs. Like you, don’t think it matters as they were tasty. The meat, not the nuts…

On the Duck or Deer Hunting, not duck hunted yet and some deer hunting. I spend my time down there largely scouting and figuring out where new trails need to be cut, stand locations, and of course, where to put a duck box.

As far as an excavator, you just don’t know how bad I would love to do that!! It’s a flowing creek and I would be in an jazz of trouble over that.

On the Beavers. Have found two dams, they are maybe 100 yards apart and no recent activity that I have seen so far. Have more to explore, but that’s the scene for now.

Bay, I’ve never done that with buck cods, or heard of it.

I need to see if I can find that Mountain Men show you referred to. Love that kind of stuff!

Lets see if I can post a couple pics of trees those toothy jokers have chewed on…

Why the heck do they chew on such big trees with so much else around?? Second pic is white oak, not sure on first…will figure it out…

Teeth needed something harder to chew on as getting to long. Don’t know.

I get to it thru HULU

Some impressive dudes but EF said he lives close to Eustest and locals don’t think much of him but it’s still better then most stuff available

They catch lots of beavers in Montana

Bay will believe anything…

Sweet gum. Straight grooved bark

I would destroy any Beavers you can. They are the worst IMO. I first found out when my pup jumped in the pond and dragged out a bark stripped piece of willow branch. I saw a 18" water oak down and the next day it was Gone!! It is amazing how fast they can work. They chopped down a couple of my cypresses and ringed a few others. I killed one and the other just couldn’t get it. I’d sneak down at night and “SLAP” it would hit the water with it’s tail and disappear. They will swim with the tip of their nose out the water and never leave a wake. I left a radio playing 24/7, snuck down on a full moon night, no moon night, … Craziest thing of all is the question where it’s nest was , never found it and it had to have a lot crammed in it.

Climb a den tree early spring get yourself 1

:raccoon:

Lol, Bay, to old for that.

I have had more than one growing up. Where I lived folks would find the den in their hay mows and get them before the eyes even opened and keep as pets.

Had to bottle feed, but the younger, the better. They have a built in wild side…so ya get what ya get as they mature. When ya mess with them, like playing with a puppy, they get excited, but not in the nibbling way, if that makes sense…

Best one I ever had was one I paid I guy like 15 or 20 bux for when I was like 18 or 19. It was all of 20lbs and calm as could be. That included a nice cage that was like 3’ deep by 6’ long and two stories where it could go up top with some room and box/den type thingy.

Thanks

Bay, just remembered seeing a hole in a tree, that had enough limbs for me to take a peek. Like 1980 timeframe. Momma with some newborns. Came back to check next day to gather them up if momma was gone and poof! Momma moved em off.

Carry on,

Had a trap line and they’d slow down to almost nothing during full moon so I would climb den trees to shoot the buggers use a green briar to fish him out anything for a dollar

When I landed a waterfowl guiding job I found out what they meant by if you love your job you’ll never work a day in your life
