Steve Chapman (wrongtide) took the redfish with a 22 7/8" football and also the longest flounder at 21 3/4. Stretch won the trout with one measuring 19 1/4.

I caught a bunch of trout off docklights but nothing over 16" and didn’t find the reds until almost 2:30 but they were all right at 16" too. Started on the trout from 1:30 till 3:30, back for a nap and then after some low tide reds at 7 but I hadn’t poled more than a couple of hundred yards when my phone rang and it was my buddies from up here saying their battery was dead. So, after I let Taylor decide (I was going to let them sit or pay Sea Tow), I poled back out, ran to their boat, picked one of them up and rode to IOP Marina for a new battery, back to his boat to install, then finally got back on the platform about 8. By then the reds were back in the first line of grass and Taylor couldn’t pick their pushes from all the huge mullet swimming around. Took a brunch/nap break from 10:30 to about 2, and then found those 16" reds under a couple of docks.

Taylor and I had a great 4 days together and that was enough for me. We rode around in the boat(amazing what new tank fittings and a fuel line will do), fished a little, walked on the beach and swam a couple of times up North, ate some good food and topped it off by seeing 5 eagles. Hope everyone else had a good time too. Going to change things up a little next year, maybe when we fish and what we fish for…

I wanted to post a separate thanks to our sponsors. The Town of Mt P, after a few phone calls, e-mails, applications and even a phone call from the Mt P police dept, for letting us use the docks without having to provide police oversight or license/rental fees, Capt Steve with Towboat for those who run out of gas or need a new battery out on the water, Scott at Haddrells in West Ashley for all your fishing stuff, HealthFirst (capnsandbar) for those “hey baby, watch this” lapses in good judgement to just an ordinary flu shot and Sellsfish Premium Seafood in Summerville when you want someone who KNOWS about fish, shrimp, lobsters, crabs, oysters, etc…I also need to thank Luke (flatscaster) for the great work on the t-shirt design and Purple Tuna Tees here in Greenville for the deal they gave us on the shirts and printing. Finally a thanks to Andy here at Charlestonfishing.com for putting up with us, keeping this site running and for donating the $50 kids gift certificate in memory of Stan Arnold. We had two kids who showed up for the weigh-in, although one had to get back to Columbia and couldn’t stay until I got there about 3:45. In the spirit of full disclosure, Taylor was the only one there at 4, so I let Carl decide how we should handle the kids stuff. He let Taylor pick and she chose the gift cert and I stopped in Columbia on the way home and gave Conner Fordham a cast net and the cash from the kids payout. Taylor now has her own “tarpon scale” buff and a pale blue Shimano hat…I got nothing :frowning:

Thanks to our sponsors, all who came to the Capt’s mtg, fished and showed up at the weigh-in for making it again this year. I enjoyed seeing some old friends and meeting a few new people too. Changes coming next year.

No doubt, thanks Roger. I really appreciate you making the extra effort in stopping by in Columbia to drop off our shirts and Connor’s goodies (he was quite happy). My Fall schedule is always so busy so I was thrilled to be able to participate this year albeit in a limited way. My hopes for next year are that I am able to attend the Capt. Meeting, stay for the weigh-in and actually catch something to weigh. We may need to add a loser category.

Thanks again.

Great job my friend!

Good gosh…how far back did you have to go to find this thing???

Yes, October 12th it is. Working on art and t-shirts now, well, actually Mrs. Bonzo is doing all the hard stuff. Will have obligatory Captains Meeting at SCB&G on the 10th so put it down if you want to have some fun. Going to be a little different this year so more details coming.

Is this an individual or team event? The reason I ask is because I lack in the saltwater fishing department and could use a running mate. I have a boat and some tackle, but most of what I own is driven towards freshwater.
