question about artificials in the surf...

greetings all. I read this forum all the time…post not so much.

What artificials would you expect to be most productive in the surf right about now? (from the beach moreso than from a pier) From all of the endorsements in other fishing reports, it seems like I MUST have trout trick lures in my arsenal – or are they mostly for fishing on the inland side?

Also, this site seems to be the best of its kind that I have found. Do any of you know of a similar forum focused on the northern Gulf/panhandle region?

If you find a spot where the trout are, I would bet most any type of grub. My personal favorite is the elec chicken.

On the surf i always keep a rod rigged with a hopkins spoon or gotcha plug in case some schooling action comes by. I have not got lucky on a school lately but, the last time I went without they boiled the water like piranhas.
