Quick trip on Folly, 1 new species for us.

Went out with bigcountryboy in my backyard last night, I am fortunate to live oceanfront granted its only a step above a shanty it is on the beach. Didn’t get to fish nearly as long as wanted, and were pretty bait starved.

I got out around 5pm and caught nothing but pup shark after pup shark. It made for an entertaining time for all the little kids who were with there parents walking up and down. I don’t like kids but hey doesn’t hurt to be nice once in a while!

Yakked out a red and black drum that ended up freezer burnt and a shad. Josh had his 12/0 out, and I have my 50/80’s out.

12/0 starts getting bumped around, as we watch the glowstick fall to the ground as the line went slack. Went to go check it out and thought for sure it was a sharp nose. Then I pointed out even on a 30w, Blanding’s 158lb tipper @ BTC only made an initial run when drag was super low and not when put up to even strike. Still thought a sharpie somehow ate the drum, and when we got it to the wash we saw a nice 75" sand tiger. Not a cow by any means, and after getting off our BHC trip only a week before it was still cool to see something we had not seen before.

cut right by the hook, no pvc or anything on hand to put in his mouth so we couldn’t risk it. tried with the dehooker but no dice, a little to deep to get it.

Josh and his tooth shot! Smile!

Not my shark, but since they are generally gone by this time of the year I likely won’t see another one soon! My turn with snaggle tooth.

Had a nice little crowd come take pictures and ask us about LBSF. Shark measured 62.5 fork, 75 total, 30 girth. A peanut overall, but he swam away well, and I hope that hook finds it’s way out… hate to leave a hook but he was already out of

Nice shark. I have always wanted to surf fish after dark; but here in the summer by the time it gets dark I’m usually pretty drunk.

Good looking shark. Looks like a young sand tiger.
