When I saw a ■■■■■ of these making a circle outside our condo, I thought “Are those ducks?” When they landed on a roof across the saltwater pond I knew they couldn’t be. Several pictures and an hour of internet research and…they are ducks!
Saw some at Donnelly on Friday too and thought it wierd. I remember seeing some at the golf course pond on hole #1 years ago at Edisto. I think they call them pichejuilas (peach-a-wheel-as) in Mexico.
Short grass and tight lines, make a man feel so fine!
Bob, there were hundreds of them around wiltown this year, and we killed some by bear island two duck seasons ago, but like hackett said this is late in the year to be seeing them. Must be lost, haha.
Catfish, These were Black Bellied Whistling Ducks, not Fulvous Whistling ducks (also called Fulvous Tree Ducks). The pink feet and bills on these birds were a dead giveaway! Bob
Hows your fishing been? I see you a fair bit down at edisto but I fish the N. Edisto so I don’t run into you on the water much. Red’s been great but trout have been almost no existant for me… then again I haven’t been as hard after them givin their current condidtion. Hope your doing well.
